Volume 15

The Foundation sticks ardently to its mission of delivering real world economic value through our service offerings for ecosystem business owners. This quarter saw significant progress in terms of adoption in the sustainability and traceability sectors. The new digital assurance service by key channel partner DNV built on VeChainThor, ‘Tag. Trace. Trust.’ aims to allow anyone to instantly check the validity, data and authenticity of a product’s environmental profile, and successfully onboarded some notable clients including Norweigan Aluminium manufacturer, Hydro. 


The ReSea Project, a Danish company building a community-driven solution to remove plastic from oceans and rivers, used a VeChainThor-powered solution to develop a digital tracking system that secures real-time data and tracks all steps of oceanic plastic removal within the scope of certification.


With the purpose of exposing products and services built on VeChainThor, the Foundation also increased support in business expansion and long-term business development. This quarter has witnessed the success of integrating the Salesforce adapter with our products. 

Volume 14

This quarter saw the success of startup D2C e-commerce platform KnowSeafood integrating VeChain blockchain technology to their entire value chain.

The E-HCert App, co-developed by VeChain and I-Dante, has launched a latest iteration during this quarter; which offers an ecosystem of blockchain-enabled services. After demonstrating efficacy in the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, another top-of-the-line private medical facility, Aretaeio Hospital, has joined the VeChain Ecosystem and integrated the E-HCert App throughout its lab testing services. 

Based on grounded practice and premium technology, VeChain receives the world’s first 5-Star-Rated Blockchain Service Certificate issued by TÜV Saarland Certification. The certification acknowledges the readiness and maturity of VeChain’s blockchain technology, raising the profile and prestige of the network and certifying it as one of the preeminent front runners in the enterprise-level blockchain space.

Volume 13

During this quarter, the Foundation has seen more opportunities for high-impact business applications in various industries. With the partnership with Grant Thornton Cyprus, one of the world’s largest professional services network of independent accounting and consulting member firms, VeChain intends to pair blockchain technology with the global network of Grant Thornton Cyprus clients. After becoming an official member of the China Animal Health And Food Safety Alliance as the sole public blockchain technology provider, VeChain will be providing technical and infrastructural support for over 130 enterprise and organization member council members.

In the face of the long-term impact of the COVID-19 on the global economy, VeChain, together with DNV GL, jointly developed a blockchain-based risk self-evaluation platform named VeTrust. It combines DNV GL’s infection risk management methodology and track record to help businesses start managing COVID-19 risk factors, starting with small to mid-scale hotels in China. In addition, VET teamed with Travala.com, the leading cryptocurrency-friendly travel booking platform, integrating VET as the payment accommodation options for over 230 countries and 2.2 million hotels.

Volume 12

During this quarter, VeChain explored more business growth in the healthcare sector and revealed the partnership with Bayer China to co-develop CSecure, a blockchain-powered Clinical Trial Traceability Platform for drugs. Together with I-Dante, VeChain has been further engaged in the fight against COVID-19 by developing a blockchain-enabled medical data management platform named The E-NewHealthLife and a blockchain-enabled archival solution for COVID-19 RT-PCR and antibodies tests records named C-HCert.

There are also notable developments in the food sector. VeChain became the sole public blockchain protocol in the APAC Provenance Council and teamed up with PwC and Sam’s Club in China to launch the Sam’s Club Blockchain Traceability Platform. In terms of industrial efforts, VeChain and Cointelegraph Consulting have jointly produced a report on the transformation taking place in the food industry titled “Blockchain Meets IoT: Ensuring Food Safety In The 2020s”.

Volume 11

During this quarter, VeChain was awarded a top 5% ranking among startups around the globe by Early Metrics, which recognized the development and growth logic, market positioning, technical professionalism, and operational execution of VeChain, further proving the potential of VeChain’s business growth.

Given the solid advantages in business friendly blockchain technology, VeChain enhanced partnership with Shanghai Gas to further enhance the partnership to kick off the further blockchain-based energy project. The partnership aims to optimize business processes, reduce operation cost, improve the supply chain efficiency and build a trust-free “Energy-as-a-Service” ecosystem. Sarah Regensburger, the vegan fashion label based in London has also chose VeChain ToolChain™ to boost the traceability and efficiency of product delivery.

Volume 15 (February, 2021 – April, 2021)

  • On March 16,  Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain, joined a special AMA hosted by crypto.com through its official Twitter, Facebook and YouTube channel.
  • On March 19, VeChain joined the 15th Shanghai Retail Conference 2020 China Retail Summit, and was invited to speak during “Technology-empowered New Retail Scene” to share potential blockchain applications, and received the “Best Science and Technology Innovation Award of the Year in the Retail Industry”On April 8th, Jay Zhang, Partner of VeChain was invited to attend Blockchain Business Bridge and took part in a panel discussion looking at how blockchain solves food safety challenges.
  • On April 9th, Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain, was interviewed by the KOL Thinking Crypto through his YouTube Channel & Podcast. It was an insightful discussion around VeChain’s history, adoption, and partnerships, together with progress such as Proof of Authority 2.0

Volume 14 (May, 2020 – July, 2020)

  • VeChain attended the 2020 CSRTech Corporate Social Responsibility Conference held by Orange (one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators), Xiaomi (one of the largest Chinese multinational electronics companies), Alibaba Cloud Innovation Center and other leading enterprises and organizations, to share blockchain applications in sustainability.   • The HKMA Annual Conference 2020 intended to showcase some established and up-and-coming companies to share with the audience their unique stories on embracing the new normal. Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain, spoke at Transformational Leadership in the Age of New Normal. Other speakers included Ms Leonie Valentine, Managing Director of Sales & Operations of Google Hong Kong, Dr Harry Shum, Adjunct Professor of Tsinghua University (Former Executive Vice President of AI & Research Microsoft), and Dr Peter Zhou, President of Data Storage and Intelligent Vision Product Line, Vice President of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.   • Singapore FinTech Festival is the world’s largest FinTech event and a global platform for the FinTech community comprising FinTech players, technopreneurs, policy makers, financial industry leaders, investors including private equity players and venture capitalists, and academics. Peter Zhou, the Chief Scientist of VeChain attended the event and explored insights on the transformational force of blockchain technology in the near future. (November 10)
  • Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain, attended the Sports Tomorrow, a new two-week online event held by Barça Innovation Hub, which is the first of its kind for the audience to discover, learn and trigger the next new revolution. Sunny spoke at “Blockchain in Sports: Challenges & New opportunities” and gave insights into the future landscape of blockchain applications in this area. (November 11)
  • The 2020 edition of China Hi-Tech Fair has been successfully held at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. During the 5-day event, VeChain attended the 4th China Green Economy Summit 2020 and gave a speech on “Power The Digital Green Transformation By Blockchain Technology”. (November 14)
  • During the 2020 SCIP+ Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest, Suez, a global leader in environment services, proposed designated topics to seek for outstanding teams with innovative thoughts. VeChain became the winner of Blockchain Improving the Traceability in Waste Management System. (November 14)
  • Top 10 Best Practices of Blockchain In Supply Chain China Federation of Logistics& Purchasing (CFLP), the only social organization of the logistics industry in China, held the 2nd Supply Chain & Blockchain Technology Conference in Shenzhen. Joined by enterprises such as Huawei, Meide, and Tencent, VeChain attended the event and was awarded Top 10 Best Practices of Blockchain In Supply Chain for Walmart China Blockchain Traceability Platform. (November 16-18)

Volume 13 (May, 2020 — July, 2020)

  • Initiated by one of the leading industrial media platforms, Mars Blockchain, The POW’ER 2020 Shanghai Summit was held from August 11 to 12 in Shanghai. The two-day event aims to conduct an in-depth discussion on blockchain technology applications, encryption methodology, and financial innovation, and also explore the collision and integration of blockchain with 5G, artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies. Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO at VeChain, gave a keynote speech on “The Last Mile of The Mass Adoption of Blockchain Technology’’. (August 11–12)
  • Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO at VeChain, was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the “Unlocking New Opportunities for ‘Tongue Safety’ Digitalization” forum held at PwC Shanghai Innovation Center. During the roundtable session, Sunny Lu discussed blockchain innovation in the food industry with government representatives, industry leaders and other guests. The forum aims to explore new digital industry opportunities such as blockchain traceability, supply chain visualization, anti-counterfeit and controllability to help build food safety and enhance consumers’ safety. VeChain shared its own landing cases and successful experiences. (August 13)
  • VeChain attended Blockchain in China: Applications and Opportunities held by British Chamber Shanghai Office. Sunny Lu (Co-founder, CEO of VeChain) and CY Cheung (Partner, Cyber Security and Innovation at PwC) dived into real cases by discussing the key factors for the mass adoption of blockchain technology, as well as sharing experiences in the blockchain deployment, integration and usage for various business scenarios. They also shed light on the opportunities and challenges of applying blockchain in the COVID-19 era. (September 1)
  • As one of the main Blockchain Conferences in Europe, European Blockchain Convention was successfully held on September 21 and 22. Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain, was invited to give a speech on “Smart Cities, Smart Mobility: Showcasing Tomorrow”. The panel was joined by guests from Mobility Daimler and Bosch Global. Sunny shared insights on blockchain-enabled mobility as a service and further potential of blockchain deployment in the future. (September 21)
  • BMW invited VeChain to its BMW IT Innovation Keynote 2020. During the live streaming event, the BMW VerifyCar dApp was showcased to BMW Group associates. Full BMW lifecycle tracking based on VeChain was mentioned. (September 23)
  • VeChain attended the exclusive industry event held by TechNode, with the theme of “Is Blockchain The Answer To Food Safety”. The business project manager of VeChain shared our industry leading technology to VIPs and key stakeholders in the food safety industry. (September 24)
  • Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain attended the LA Blockchain Summit and joined the panel named Application Base Of Distributed Ledger Technology In China. (October 6)
  • Shanghai Fashion Week SS2021 will be held from October 8 to 16, during which time R.I.S.E. Sustainability Lab will be hosting an exclusive event Mode Talk to dive deep into the green production and design of the industry. VeChain is invited to attend the “Redefine The Post-COVID Value Driver of Fashion Industry’’ panel and present the success of blockchain solutions in this sector to explore more potential of further adoption. (October 11)
  • Jason Rockwood, General Manager of VeChain Americas, attended an industry webinar “Blockchain — Evolution of Supply Chain Management” held by BrightTALK, to share supply chain issues/challenges tackled, lessons learned and how traceability solutions powered by VeChain were deployed in the real world. (October 20)
  • The 9th episode of VeChain BootCamp was successfully held October 22, 10:00 PM UTC+8. Peter Zhou, Chief Scientist at VeChain, Zhijie Ren, Senior Research Scientist (Blockchain) at VeChain, joined by Ning Wang from the Mathematical Institute at University of Oxford to, expand the discussion around their recent research achievements, especially in AlphaBlock theory. (October 22)
  • The Delegation of Cyberspace Administration of China, with representatives from Beijing and Shanghai, conducted an exclusive panel in the VeChain office and sat down with the VeChain team to discuss the blockchain deployment in real world scenarios. Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain made a detailed analysis of our enterprise-level blockchain applications in safety & risk management, food safety, and sustainability, which was well-received by all guests. (October 22)
  • During the International Shanghai Blockchain Week 2020, PANews held an themed panel “Center of Crypto Market: NFT Is More Than Digital Art”. Noah Huo, Community Operation Director of VeChain, attended the event. Joined by prominent individuals in the NFT/blockchain industry, he gave a speech titled “How public blockchain embrace the rise of NFT” and talked about VeChain’s superior technology for NFT and dApps. (October 26)
  • Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain, together with John Dempsey, co-founder and CEO of VIMWorld, conducted an interview through the crypto.com YouTube channel. He spoke about the advantages of VeChain in terms of technical security and stability, and the professionalism to combine the technology with business. (October 26)
  • Sunny Lu, co-founder and CEO of VeChain attended one of the most attractive industry events in Asia, Shanghai International Blockchain Week, and gave a keynote speech on the potential of the Blockchain+IoT solutions.   • Jerome Grilleres, General Manager at VeChain, attended the online event Blockchain Day organized by ESGI, joining the session of discussion around blockchain in actual business scenarios, including blockchain deployment in the fashion, food, and energy sectors. (May 26)
  • Kevin Feng, COO at VeChain, attended the BlockDown 2020 in the session themed “The Post-COVID 19 Crypto Space in Asia” to discuss the potential backlash and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. He shared insights on Chinese crypto projects and the investment trend. (June 18)
  • Sunny Lu, co-founder, and CEO at VeChain attended Blockchain and Beyond: Modern Tools for Supply Chains, an event hosted by AmCham’s Supply Chain Committee. He analyzed the challenges of traditional supply chain management and presented the successful deployment of VeChain ToolChain™ in supply chain management. (June 23)
  • Dimitris Neocleous, Ecosystem Manager at VeChain Europe, attended Blockchain in Healthcare: Bridging Trust in response to COVID-19. Volume 11 (February, 2020 — April, 2020)

  • Kevin Feng, COO at VeChain, joined an AMA session hosted by Binance US, which was held at its official telegram. The event covers interesting topics related to VeChain, and has a live Q&A session for the community. Kevin stressed that VeChain differs from other public blockchains in terms of technical designs and growth philosophy, by developing blockchain technology and infrastructures that are ready for business adoption. (March 4)
  • Sunny Lu, CEO and co-founder of VeChain, conducted a live AMA on Cryptocom’s Telegram Channel to share VeChain’s recent progress and to answer questions from the community. (April 23)

Ecosystem Development

Volume 15

In order to provide better support for community developers and improve the quality of contributions incorporated participation, the Foundation team initiated and improved the Foundation Grant Program, which has been implemented following communication with our community. Besides incentive programmes, we are also working with consultants to approach for more resources and to create diversity in ecosystem productivity. The team continues to evaluate projects and currently holds productive discussions with several teams.

Volume 14

In order to provide better support for community developers and improve the quality of contributions incorporated participation, the Foundation team has adhered to the Foundation Grant Program and bounty program, which was being implemented with increasing closer communication with our community. Besides incentive programmes, we are also working with consultants to approach for more resources to create diversity in ecosystem productivity. The team continues to evaluate projects and keeps productive discussions with several teams.

Volume 13

On August 16, The VeChain Foundation announced the top 10 entries of the VeChain Design Contest. By using VeVote, the community has determined the final Top 5 winners to share a total prize pool of 3,000 USD.

In order to provide better support for community developers and improve the quality of contributions incorporated participation, the Foundation team has adhered to the Foundation Grant Program and bounty program, which was being implemented with increasing closer communication with our community. Besides incentive programmes, we are also working with consultants to approach for more resources to create diversity in ecosystem productivity. The team continues to evaluate projects and keeps productive discussions with several teams.

Volume 12

With the spirit to celebrate the 2nd Year Anniversary of VeChainThor Mainnet, the VeChain Foundation officially launched the VeChain Community Video Contest 2020 and VeChain Community Design Contest to show appreciation to the support and talent of the community members. The top winners have been rewarded handsomely with prizes.

In order to provide better support for community developers and improve the quality of contributions incorporated participation, the Foundation team has adhered to the Foundation Grant Program and bounty program, which was being implemented with increasing closer communication with our community. Besides incentive programs, we are also working with consultants to approach for more resources to create diversity in ecosystem productivity. The foundation team continues to evaluate both enterprise and community projects and keeps productive discussions with them.
